Even though System Restore creates restore points automatically based on various criteria, you should create one manually if you are going to perform some major change to your system. This includes hardware changes, installation or removal of an application, etc. To manually create a restore point:

1. Click the Start button.

2. Point your mouse cursor to All Programs.

3. Point the cursor to Accessories, then to System Tools.

4. Select System Restore.

5. Click Create a restore point.

6. Click Next.

7. Type an appropriate name in the Restore Point Description text box.

8. Click Create.

9. Click Close.
