Excel: Automatically Size Columns to Fit Data

Excel can automatically size a column or columns which you have selected, based on their longest entries. This gives you a quick and easy way to display your data in a worksheet.

To size a single column, use the following steps:

1. Position your mouse pointer on the right edge of the desired column in the column header.

2. The pointer will change to a double-headed arrow. When it does, double-click the mouse.

To size multiple columns, use the following steps:

1. Select the columns by dragging through them in the column header (or by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the column letters).

2. Position your mouse pointer on the right edge of one of the selected columns.

3. The pointer will change to a double-headed arrow. When it does, double-click the mouse.
