XP: Disable the Memory Dump

You can disable this if you dont want to see BLUE Screen Memory dumping in case of a system failure.


Saving your windows dump file can be invaluable in figuring how why a system is crashed. However, if you don’t care about debugging your random crashes, you can just disable the dump.

1. Right-click My Computer -> Properties

2. In the Advanced tab -> Startup and Recovery -> Settings button.

3. System Failure -> Write Debugging Information -> drop down list select None.

4. Click OK

    If the laptop does not boot and for every start there is a memory dump, how does one use the solution suggested?
