XP: Disable the Memory Dump

Posted September 21, 2006 by mikejc in Windows

You can turn off the Windows memory dump if you do not want to see blue screen memory dumping in case of a system failure.

Saving your Windows dump file can be invaluable in figuring how or why a system has crashed. However, if you do not care about debugging your random crashes, you can just disable the dump.

1. Right-click My Computer -> Properties.

2. In the Advanced tab ->, go to the Startup and Recovery -> Settings button.

3. From the System Failure -> Write Debugging Information -> drop down list, select None.

4. Click OK.
