How To Repair Your Outlook Personal Folder File

If your Personal Folders data file (.pst) becomes corrupted, you can often repair it by using the Inbox Repair Tool.

1. Close Outlook

2. Select Start – Run and enter the following into the Run dialog box (including quotation marks):

“C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\SCANPST.exe”

3. Enter the path and name of your Personal Folders data file. The default location is:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

4. Click Start to begin the repair.
