Having access to the control panel from the context menu of “My Computer” seems logical. However, by default, this option is not there. This registry hack will allow you to add a control panel option when you right click on “My Computer”.

Open up Notepad and copy the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Control Panel\command]
@=”rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL”

Save the text file and rename it to for example “XP_ControlPanel_MyComputer_Context”. Then merge it into the registry by double clicking it.
