Posted August 31, 2006 by MickeyMouse in Mozilla Firefox

By default, Mozilla Firefox places all downloads on the user’s desktop, which can cause it to become cluttered. This tutorial describes how to change the location where downloaded files are saved.

I enjoy using Firefox and appreciate its features. However, the browser saves all the files that I download on my desktop. This is one aspect of Firefox that can be inconvenient for the user. Here is how to change it.

Change the Location Where Downloaded Files are Placed in Firefox:

1. In Firefox, select the Tools menu.
2. Click Options.
3. Click the Downloads tab the at top of the Options window.
4. Here, you can select if you want Firefox to “Ask me where to save every file,” or choose browse and select the directory you want Firefox to use.
