XP: Creating Desktop Shortcuts for Restart and System Restore

You can easily add shortcuts to your XP desktop for Restart and System Restore by following these simple steps.


Restart button

To create shortcut: right-click on desktop, select New > Shortcut.

For location, type the following: shutdown -r -t 0

Click Next, name the shortcut “Restart”.

Click Finish.

System Restore button

To create shortcut: right-click on desktop, select New > Shortcut.

For location, type the following: %System%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Click Next, name the shortcut “System Restore”.

Click Finish.
