XP: Creating Desktop Shortcuts for Restart and System Restore

You can easily add shortcuts to your XP desktop for Restart and System Restore by following these simple steps.


Restart button

1. To create a shortcut, right-click on the desktop, and select New > Shortcut.

2. For the location, type the following: shutdown -r -t 0.

3. Click Next, and then name the shortcut Restart.

4. Click Finish.

System Restore button

1. To create a shortcut, right-click on the desktop, and select New > Shortcut.

2. For the location, type the following: %System%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe.

3. Click Next, and name the shortcut System Restore.

4. Click Finish.
