Windows XP: Taming the Eye Candy to Speed Up Computing

The eye candy in Windows XP is great, unfortunately it can be resource heavy in terms of performance. You can compromise a little and speed up your computing while keeping that great XP look and feel. Follow these steps:


Right click on My Computer on your Desktop and choose Properties.

Choose the Advanced tab.

From the Advanced tab click the Settings button under Performance.

Select Adjust for best performance, this will uncheck all the options. Now go back and select the following:

Smooth edges of screen fonts
Use common tasks in folders
Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
Use visual styles on windows and button
