Back Up Active Directory

The following Tech-Recipes tutorial explains how to create a backup of Active Directory on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

1. Click Start -> RUN.


3. Then choose the tab Select Backup.

4. Select System State.

5. Then select a location to store the backup of the server. Finally, burn it onto a CD.


If your server goes down and you want to recover your Active Directory backup, you simply install a new Windows 2000 Advanced Server on boot up.

Press F8 upon boot up.
– From the on-screen menu, select DIRECTORY RECOVERY…….
– Then put your backup CD on the CD-ROM.
