GMail: How to Change Password

Posted July 31, 2006 by MickeyMouse in Internet

The best way to keep people from hacking your Gmail account is to frequently change your password. The process is easy once you know where to start. Read on to find out how.

Web-based email is an essential part of every-day life; however, the nontraditional GUI often makes routine tasks difficult to execute. Changing your password in Gmail is one such example.

I have attempted to include direct links to the correct areas which should work if you have already logged into Gmail.

1. Log into your Gmail account.
2. Click on your name in the top right-hand corner.
3. Click the Account button.

4. Click on the manage security link on the left column. If you are logged in, you should be able to follow this direct link to jump directly to your security area.

5. Select the Change password button.

6. Confirm your new password.

7. Additionally, within the security area, you should consider enabling 2-step verification if it is essential that the data stay secure.
