Excel: Y-Axis Label Text Is Missing or Truncated

Posted January 23, 2006 by MickeyMouse in Microsoft Excel

In Excel, if you use certain fonts or screen resolutions, the Y-Axis label will get cut off. The following tutorial explains the work-arounds for this.

I have never noticed this problem until today; however, many people have complained about it in the newsgroups.

In Excel for Windows, certain screen resolution/font combinations will cause the Y-Axis labels to get truncated. This is a known bug without a simple fix.

Here are the Work-Arounds:

    1. Create a correctly formatted text box, and place it where the title text should be.
    2. Change your screen’s resolution. For me, 1024 by 768 pixels worked.
    3. Place a couple of spaces and a period after the title text. The period can be hidden by making the font color the same as the background.
