If you burn a CD with the CD burning software that is built into XP, you’ll notice that your CD is always ejected after it is burned. Here’s how to stop it.

I burn a lot of CDs disc/disks (I always forget which spelling is correct). I hate that the drive opens itself every time after a burn. Sometimes I actually want to burn the CD and it just sit in the happy little drive for a while.

Here’s how to tell XP to quit automatically ejecting the disk, disc, whatever…

    1. Click My Computer
    2. Right-Click your CDR drive
    3. Select Properties
    4. Click the Recording tab
    5. Uncheck Automatically eject the CD after writing
    6. Click OK
