XP: Reghack to Disable Low Disk Space Warning in Windows

Posted November 20, 2005 by MickeyMouse in Windows

By default, Windows XP will notify you if your hard drive is running out of space. This tutorial explains a simple registry hack which will prevent Windows from displaying this message.

On one of my small servers, I frequently receive reminders that my disk space is getting low.

Here is a quick registry hack to turn off this notification.

Note: The hack is specifically for those who are familiar with editing the registry.

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Name: NoLowDiskSpaceChecks
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1

Value of 1 disables alerts. A value of 0 will re-enable alerts.
