Free Online Web-Based Word to PDF Conversion Sites

If you need to convert a few files over from word to pdf, these sites will save you a lot of time and energy.
Word to PDF programs are all over the place. Usually the good ones are expensive. The free ones sometimes work and sometimes don’t.
The free conversions often are built off printer drivers and have a tendency to really mess up a system if things do not go well.
I convert a file or two to PDF per month. With this low level, the free web-based services work well for me. Here are the ones I use. I tested them by creating 4 files in increasing size and complexity. The last one was almost two MB in size and contained just about every feature available in Word 2003. As you will see, that little stress test killed many of these services.
- goBLC/goHTM
[list]I like this little site because they don’t require registration. You upload your file (up to 2 mb) and they instantly email you back your pdf. I use it more than the rest. It did choke on my stress test file, but rendered my other 3 very well.
- This site will provide 5 conversions to any email address with validation and without further registration. There is about a minute delay. It did not convert the stress test file correctly.
- 5 free versions after a painful soul-sucking registration requirement. Only service tested that didn’t choked on the stress file. PDF is their “thing” so it’s not surprising. If one of the other sites can’t convert, I come here.
- Free to any email account up to 12 pages. However, they do slap their watermark on the pages; therefore, I never use them. The stress file was too big for their free service so it was not able to be tested.
- This service is another one that requires soul-sucking registration for 5 free conversions. As I usually go to the adobe site if the other sites fail the conversion, I have not yet had a chance to use this one.
Online, web-based services rock. If you know of any good online PDF conversion pages that I missed, please let me know. Heck, if you know of any other free, cool online services of any type, please let me know!
